  Planning Overview

Every good project starts with good planning. KCA’s planning projects must consider the environmental impacts of the project to wildlife and wetlands as well as the socio-economic impacts to adjacent residents and businesses. Planning a transpiration facility takes a special ability to predict future traffic needs based on anticipated growth patterns and regionally accepted growth models.

Good planning requires an individual with experience in the potential pitfalls of a project. Our senior transportation engineers use this experience to develop transportation projects that can be designed as planned, built as planned, function as planned, be maintained, and in many cases, allow for future expandability.

Our planning projects are generally with local governments and some with state governments. The projects we have completed are generally part of our overall contract to evaluate a transportation facility and provide an analysis of alternatives for improvement of the facility. Formal reports are provided detailing the alternatives that were evaluated, a comparison of each based on environmental, socio-economic, and cost factors with a recommended alternative. Some type of planning has gone into almost each and every transportation facility we use – and everyone, while they may not realize it, is affected by the quality of that plan.
