Project Brief

This project involved widening 0.75 miles of Northcliffe Boulevard, a County collector road, from a two lane rural facility to a five lane urban roadway including a center turn lane, curb and gutter, and ADA compliant sidewalks on both sides of the roadway. The majority of the project utilized the existing pavement to help minimize construction costs. However, the vertical roadway profile required adjustment at the west end of the project in order to correct sight distance deficiencies.

The drainage system was converted from ditches to a closed storm sewer system. The existing ponds had to be modified to accept additional runoff and the permits were obtained for the modified storm sewer system.

The project design also included signing and pavement marking, signalization, and traffic control plans. KCA also designed a 12 inch water main which required relocation for the length of the project.

KCA also provided Construction Engineering and Inspection (CEI) services during the project’s construction through our subsidiary, KCCS.
