Currently KCA provides bridge inspection and load rating analysis services for approximately 650 fixed and movable Local Government and State owned bridges throughout Florida’s 5th District. The structures inspected vary from simple and continuous span concrete, timber and steel, complex steel curved box girders, concrete box and pipe culverts and 6 movable bridges. Our services include the topside and underwater inspection of these structures. Special inspection and reporting considerations are given to all fracture critical structures and mechanical and electrical components of all movable bridges. To alleviate the FDOT of any inconvenience we provide an under bridge inspection vehicle as well as any applicable maintenance of traffic services when needed. KCA provides highly detailed comprehensive maintenance reports for all inspections throughout this contract. KCA works closely with the local government entities who own these structures by communicating often and early with them. KCA has been providing inspection services to local governments since 1981 which is the key to the success of this project. KCA knows the importance of input from the local bridge owners. Our inspection teams routinely invite local owners to join us on inspection activities. KCA, jointly with the FDOT, holds owner’s meetings where the entire bridge inspection program is explained as well as the responsibilities of the local owner. One of the biggest challenges on this project lies within the bridge inspection reporting procedures. This project consists of bridges owned by local governments and state owned free and toll road bridges. Each one of these three types of bridges requires a different level of inspection, evaluation and reporting procedures. KCA is proud to say that due to the great success of this project for the 2005–2007 inspection cycle, KCA was selected again to provide these services throughout the 2007– 2009 inspection cycle. |
