Project Brief

KCA provides a roadway inspection and inventory services for FDOT District One on state maintained highways in eleven Florida counties. On this project KCA technicians perform an inventory of 28 unique roadway assets with more than 118 characteristics, including stormwater elements, and signs. KCA conducts guardrail and sign inspections, including the night-time reflectivity. KCA programmed a laptop computer for field data collection for inventory of roadway assets and synchronization with a GIS database. GPS and DMI are used to format inputs into the GIS database system which a high degree of accuracy for identified assets.

KCA inventoried over 1,300 miles of urban and rural roadways, 20,000 signs, and 500,000 linear feet of guardrail. KCA’s performance on this project has been rated exemplary after several FDOT quality control checks. This superior performance has been recognized with two annual contract extensions and the project grew from an initial one year contract of $200,000 to over $1,000,000 worth of work performed over approximately three years. KCA was awarded a follow-on contract to continue the inspection and inventory services. This project was considered instrumental in obtaining additional maintenance funds for FDOT District 1.
