Project Brief
KCA recently completed design plans for a 2.5 mile section of interstate reconstruction for the northbound lanes of I-275 west of downtown Tampa. As part of the plans development, interim and ultimate alignments were developed through the Phase II (60%) plans development stage. The interim improvements will allow for the northbound collector distributor lanes to be constructed on the outside of the exiting interstate footprint while maintaining the traffic on the existing interstate lanes. The ultimate improvements include the development of express lanes on the inside of the 180 foot median in the future. The median will also allow for HOV lanes and/or rail lines. In the interim condition, the collector distributor lanes will be the primary interstate through Tampa with four basic lanes in each direction.
In addition to preparing the roadway plans, KCA also prepared wall drawings for temporary and permanent MSE walls and temporary critical sheet pile walls.
This project is currently under construction with a bid price of $104 million.
